The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Displeasure Regarding Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Updates
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
